Get to know me

I’m Katie, the face of Cosy Chair Counselling. I believe therapy works best when you feel understood and accepted. My compassion for helping others and the difficulties I’ve personally faced in life enable me to combine my professional training with a deeply rooted desire to support others in navigating their challenging times, while truly understanding what it's like to struggle.

Life for me has not always been straightforward, which led me to train as an 'integrative counsellor'. This means I know a range of counselling styles and tailor my support to each client, so whether you need a place to vent, a strategy to cope, or want to delve into your younger years, there is a cosy chair here for you.

I am not here to tell you what to do; I’m here to walk with you while you discover what will work best for you. Everyone is different, and I believe every person deserves the respect of being seen as an individual, rather than being defined by their problems.

My resilience to life wasn’t learned in a classroom; I’ve rebuilt myself after difficulties, including divorce, my own chronic illness, and supporting those close to me in their battles with mental health, autism and FND. I support my own child through the complexities of the SEN system, so I understand the unique tiredness that comes with navigating a world that isn’t designed for every family.

I can also relate to the heaviness that comes with caring for a family member, where they are your priority, and your needs are secondary. The overwhelm that often comes with supporting a loved one is not always easy to handle on your own. I have found therapy extremely beneficial to me, and having someone who understands and validates your experiences is the quiet strength you need to keep going.

I’m here to offer you that same space—a place where you are the priority, your voice is the loudest, and you have permission to set the heavy load down for a while. A cosy chair is here for you and is a place where your experiences are understood, validated and held with care.
